Despite the stress, despite the zero sleep, despite the mess up with food, despite my wanting to rip Jake's face off for not helping, despite spending all Saturday morning trying to make all the decorations perfect. Despite all of that..my daughter, our family, Jake and I, and our very close friends..had a beautiful day on Saturday.
All gathered together to celebrate Abigail's big day. It was splendid. It was a beautiful day, we couldn't have asked for better weather, a better time, or better company.
Baby girl did so good. She is such a lover, and played with every one..and let every one hold her and kiss her. Once it was cake time, she did the same thing she did on her real birthday! No cake for little missy again, didn't like all the attention and just wanted her mama. That's okay! Maybe next year Abs. But..Jake's sister did a beautiful job! We keep on telling her to start a side job!
I must say, she was most happy once things started to settle down. She had fun running around through the field with Sam and I..and enjoyed laying and sitting around and picking the grass. Friends & family laughed and shared stories, Jake grilled hot dogs & hamburgers, boys were playing football in the field, other boys were playing corn hole on a another field, old family caught up, and every one loved my little girl. We couldn't have asked for a better day!
And lets just say..I wasn't the only one pooped after our perfectly long weekend ♥
I was sad that I had to run off to work this morning. I so wanted to stay home and go through all of her new toys with her, and sort through all of her new clothes and pack away some summer ones. After all, it is that time of year again :) Clean out your closet for some warmer things ♥
But (theres always a but) coming home is always so great. Walking through that door to that big toothy grin just finishing up dinner with Daddy..is enough to make me forget any kind of crapiness I was feeling today.
And...I love bedtime. Especially in the fall. Its cool outside, so the baths feel warmer, the candles smell apple-ier, the air is crisp and the sheets are chilly. A cool breeze sweeps through our apartment - making it a perfect night for cuddles and stories in Mommy & Daddy's bed.
pssst..is anyone else excited that its footie PJ time again? :)
